So Involved. So Informed. So Laguna.

About So Laguna

Independent local information, civic tools and community advocacy for all of Laguna Beach.

So Laguna serves the entire Laguna Beach community—from North Laguna and Laguna Canyon to downtown, the village, Arch Beach Heights, Woods Cove, South Laguna and every neighborhood in between.

What “So Laguna” Means

So Laguna is not short for South Laguna.

The name comes from the expression, “That is so Laguna.” It describes the creative, independent, beautiful, unconventional and occasionally unbelievable moments that could only happen here.

It is the story behind the story. The spirited City Hall debate. The neighbor who takes action. The artist who sees the city differently. The community tradition, local character or coastal contradiction that makes someone smile and say, “That’s so Laguna.”

Only here. Unmistakably So Laguna.

Our Mission

So Laguna is an independent, nonpartisan civic and community organization serving residents throughout Laguna Beach.

Our mission is to make local information easier to find, understand and use. We provide original reporting, election resources, public-meeting information, neighborhood tools, local events and fact-based explanations of the decisions shaping our city.

We also advocate for thoughtful infrastructure, environmental stewardship, public safety, transparency and the preservation of Laguna Beach’s distinctive community character.

One City, Distinctive Neighborhoods

Laguna Beach is one city made up of neighborhoods with different histories, landscapes and concerns. North Laguna is not South Laguna. The canyon is not downtown. Woods Cove is not Top of the World—and that individuality is part of what makes Laguna Beach extraordinary.

So Laguna does not treat one neighborhood as representative of the entire city. We cover citywide issues while recognizing the identity and needs of each community.

Our South Laguna history page preserves the story of one important Laguna Beach neighborhood. It is part of the city’s history, not a boundary on whom So Laguna serves.

Community Advocacy
We support transparent decision-making, responsible public investment and long-term stewardship that respects residents, neighborhoods and Laguna Beach’s coastal environment.

Local Life
We celebrate the events, people, places and wonderfully unusual moments that make life here So Laguna.

Independent and Nonpartisan
So Laguna is not affiliated with the City of Laguna Beach, a political party or a candidate. Our election and civic resources are designed to help residents compare primary information, understand public decisions and reach their own conclusions.

So Laguna operates as a registered 501(c)(4) social welfare organization and California Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation.

Our Standard
Laguna Beach deserves local information that is useful, transparent and grounded in evidence. We believe public projects should be thoughtfully planned, community voices should be heard and important civic information should be available to everyone.

That is the So Laguna standard—and it applies throughout Laguna Beach.
Wherever you live in Laguna Beach, So Laguna is for you.
