Our Mission

The So Laguna Neighborhood Association is a civic and lifestyle collective dedicated to preserving the unique heritage of Laguna Beach. While our roots and focus are in the historic South Laguna village, we advocate for a city-wide standard of excellence in infrastructure, environmental stewardship, and community life that honors the authentic spirit of our entire coastline.

Our Story: The Soul of the City

Laguna Beach has always been more than just a geographic coordinate—it is an identity. For decades, our village has thrived as a unique enclave where the mountains meet the sea and the community values the “quiet side” of Laguna Beach.

So Laguna was born from a simple observation: our neighborhood deserves a voice as sophisticated as its coastline. Founded by Michael Kovach—a local resident, professional product leader, and Vice Chair of the Water and Sewer Advisory Committee—the association was built to bridge the gap between technical civic oversight and the heritage of our neighborhood.

We believe that “The Standard” for our village should be set by the neighbors who tend its soil and walk its beaches. From historic PCH to the hidden pocket parks of our hillsides, we provide the oversight necessary to ensure South Laguna remains the jewel of the California coast.

Operating as a fully registered 501(c)(4) social welfare organization and California Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation, we are dedicated to formally advocating for the long-term protection and enhancement of our community.
