Setting the Village Standard for South Laguna

The So Laguna Neighborhood Association was founded to provide professional oversight and a unified voice for our community. We believe that preserving the unique 1927 heritage of South Laguna requires more than appreciation—it requires active advocacy, technical expertise, and a commitment to maintaining the highest environmental and infrastructural standards.

Public Safety & Fire Station 4

Modernizing Our Village Foundations We advocate for smart, low-impact infrastructure improvements that respect our coastal geography. Leveraging our board’s technical expertise in civil engineering and public works, we serve as a professional watchdog for local utility projects.
  • Design Advocacy: We meet with city officials to ensure the new station’s architecture aligns with the South Laguna “Village” look rather than a generic industrial design.
  • Operational Transparency: Monitoring the construction timeline and temporary service plans to ensure there is zero gap in emergency response times for South Laguna residents during the transition.
  • Infrastructure Synergy: Advocating for integrated improvements, such as improved drainage and pedestrian safety, as part of the new station’s footprint.

Infrastructure & Public Works Oversight

Modernizing Our Village Foundations We advocate for smart, low-impact infrastructure improvements that respect our coastal geography. Leveraging our board’s technical expertise in civil engineering and public works, we serve as a professional watchdog for local utility projects.
  • Active Monitoring: Oversight of the South Laguna sewer and water modernization projects to ensure minimal disruption and maximum longevity.
  • Standard Advocacy: Pushing for “Village-compatible” designs in all public works, from lighting to drainage systems.

Coastal Aesthetics & View Restoration

Protecting the Village Standard Our coastline is our greatest common asset. We work within the framework of the Laguna Beach Municipal Code to advocate for fair, transparent, and standards-based view restoration.
  • Claim Assistance: Providing resources and guidance for residents navigating the formal View Restoration process.
  • Environmental Stewardship: Promoting high-end, native horticulture that enhances property values without compromising our neighbors’ horizons.

Civic Engagement & Legislative Advocacy

Your Voice at City Hall As a 501(c)(4), we represent South Laguna’s interests before the City Council and Planning Commission. We have the unique legal ability to lobby local government directly on behalf of our neighbors.
  • Policy Analysis: Reviewing proposed zoning changes and local ordinances—such as the recent discussions on beach safety and shade structures—to ensure they align with the needs of South Laguna residents.
  • Community Forums: Hosting regular meetings where neighbors can voice concerns directly to association leadership and local officials.
