The Standard Behind the Movement
Michael Kovach
Bridging professional oversight with a deep love for the Laguna Beach lifestyle.
Laguna isn’t just where I live; it’s a commitment. As a long-time resident and local business owner, I’ve seen firsthand how the unique character of our coast can be sidelined by bureaucracy.
From Resident to Advocate A Vision for our Village
The Technical Lead
As a Head of Product Management at IDAIR, GmbH, I specialize in navigating complex systems and delivering results. I bring that same data-driven precision to monitoring city projects, from fire station feasibility to park engineering.
Civic Leadership
Serving as the Vice Chair of the Water and Sewer Advisory Committee, I understand the mechanics of our local utilities and infrastructure. I advocate for transparency and fiscal responsibility in every city investment.
Community Roots
Whether managing a portfolio of 25+ domains or serving as the Vice President of the Labrador Retriever Club of Southern California, my focus is on preservation, standards, and community excellence.
Setting the Standard for 2030
We are at a turning point. The decisions made today regarding our village, our parks, and our view corridors will define Laguna for the next fifty years. I believe our village deserves a representative who understands the technical details as well as the lifestyle values.
The Heart of the Village
While my professional life is defined by data and city agendas, my life in Laguna Beach is defined by the dirt under my fingernails and the rhythm of the seasons. I believe a community is more than its infrastructure; it is the shared passion for the land we tend, the animals we love, and the heritage we protect.
The Animals: Making Laguna Country
I’ve always believed in bringing a touch of the pastoral to our coastal enclave. My home is a sanctuary for our Labrador Retrievers, but the ‘Laguna Country’ lifestyle doesn’t stop there. From the steady hum of my backyard beehive—essential for our local ecosystem—to the daily ritual of tending to my chickens, I’ve embraced a self-sustaining spirit right here in the village. It’s about creating a home that feels as grounded as it does beautiful.
The Garden: Coastal Cultivation & Competition
Gardening in Laguna is an exercise in knowing your environment. I specialize in cultivating heritage roses that thrive in our salt-misted air, a labor of love that extends to competing at the Orange County Fair. For me, the garden is a technical challenge and a creative outlet—it requires a deep understanding of our unique soil and climate to produce something worthy of a blue ribbon.

The Heritage: Service Beyond the Ballot
A village is only as strong as its local roots. My commitment to Laguna’s heritage is rooted in active service, having served as a member of the Chamber of Commerce and a dedicated supporter of Grapes for Grads. I’m a firm believer in supporting our local non-profit nights and preserving the historic aesthetic of our village character. Ensuring that the future of Laguna feels as authentic as its past isn’t just a goal—it’s my standard.
