Following the announcement regarding the transition of services at Providence Mission Hospital Laguna Beach, the City has officially opened applications for a newly formed Hospital Task Force.
This group will play a critical role in advising the City Council on the future of the hospital site and the preservation of essential local healthcare services.
What is the Hospital Task Force?
The Task Force is designed to ensure community voices are at the table as Laguna Beach navigates the loss of its only Emergency Room and acute care facility. Working alongside City Manager Dave Kiff and the Council’s Ad Hoc Hospital Committee, the group will evaluate:
- Emergency Service Gaps: How to maintain high-quality paramedic and emergency response times.
- Site Visioning: Determining the best future use for the hospital property.
- Community Advocacy: Representing the unique needs of South Laguna and the wider community during negotiations.
Who the City is Looking For
The City is seeking a diverse group of stakeholders. While they are looking for members with expertise in healthcare, EMS, and land-use planning, they also encourage local residents who are deeply impacted by these changes to apply.
- Commitment: Meetings are expected to occur twice monthly (early evenings) for approximately 3–4 months.
- Timeline: The group is slated to begin its work in June 2026.
