From View Restoration to Traffic Safety—Your Voice is the Standard.
Laguna Beach isn’t just a place we live; it’s a community we actively maintain. While advocacy from the outside is vital, some of the most impactful work happens from the inside.
The City of Laguna Beach is currently seeking dedicated residents to fill several key committee and commission seats. If you’ve ever felt that South Laguna’s unique needs were being overlooked at City Hall, now is the time to step up.
Why Serve Now?
Civic involvement is the bridge between “City promises” and “Neighborhood results.” Whether it’s ensuring our fire stations are built to a world-class standard or protecting the coastal views that define our homes, committee members provide the expert oversight our village deserves.
Perspective from the Field: “Serving on the South Laguna Water District’s Advisory Committee has reinforced one truth: technical oversight and local advocacy must go hand-in-hand. When neighbors show up with expertise, the City makes better decisions.”
— Michael Kovach, So Laguna Founder
📅 High-Priority Openings
The following committees have upcoming vacancies or are seeking active alternates. These are the front lines of neighborhood preservation:
1. View Restoration Committee
- The Focus: Balancing the rights of property owners with the preservation of Laguna’s iconic coastal and canyon vistas.
- Why it matters for So Laguna: We have some of the most significant view-related challenges in the city. We need members who understand the delicate balance of neighborhood character.
2. Parking, Traffic & Circulation (PT&C)
- The Focus: Reviewing traffic safety, parking programs, and pedestrian access.
- Why it matters for So Laguna: With the looming rollout of paid parking on PCH and the ongoing concerns regarding Aliso Road Trail safety, South Laguna needs a seat at this table.
3. Environmental Sustainability Committee
- The Focus: Advising on water conservation, wildfire hardening, and “Smart-Scape” initiatives.
- Why it matters for So Laguna: This aligns perfectly with our mission to bring drought-tolerant, fire-safe beauty to our local parkways.
